Our Mission

The mission of the Ginny L Clements Breast Cancer Institute is to prevent and cure breast cancer by focusing on transformative research, state-of-art diagnosis, cutting-edge multidisciplinary care, robust prevention strategies, impactful education and thoughtful community outreach.

Our Story

The Ginny L Clements Breast Cancer Research Institute was founded in 2020 by a generous multimillion dollar gift by Ginny L. Clements, a prominent Tucsonan, notable philanthropist and a breast cancer survivor herself with the goal of changing the lives of patients with breast cancer through transformational research. Housed within the University of Arizona Cancer Center – the only National Cancer Institute Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center headquartered in the state of Arizona – the Institute is led by Popi Siziopikou, MD, PhD, Inaugural Director and the Ginny L. Clements Breast Cancer Endowed Clinical Chair. Dr. Siziopikou is focused on bringing together basic, translational and clinical scientists, breast cancer prevention researchers and expert breast cancer clinicians with the goal of accelerating breast cancer discovery, raising breast cancer awareness and improving outcomes and lives for breast cancer patients within Arizona and nationwide.
