Popi Siziopikou, MD, PhD
Dr. Siziopikou is Professor and Vice Chair of Pathology for Research at the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Arizona. She also serves as Pathologist-in-Chief at the Ginny L. Clements Breast Cancer Research Institute at University of Arizona Cancer Center. From 2009-2025 Dr. Siziopikou served as Professor of Pathology and Medicine, and Director of Breast Pathology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and the Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center in Chicago. Dr. Siziopikou established the first subspecialty Breast Pathology Section in The City of Chicago to support the multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Program at Northwestern and the Lurie Cancer Center. Dr. Siziopikou also established the Breast Pathology Fellowship Program at Northwestern and served as the Director of the fellowship from 2010-2022.
Research Interests
Her subspecialty focus is on Breast Pathology, breast tumor markers and molecular diagnostics in breast cancer. Her interests also include molecular markers with prognostic and predictive significance; mechanisms driving the development of triple-negative and HER2-positive breast cancers; progression from preinvasive to invasive disease; pregnancy-associated breast cancer; immuno-oncology biomarkers; and emerging applications of artificial intelligence in breast pathology.
