Stephen Adamo, PhD

Assistant Professor, Cognition & Neural Systems
Director, Attention Detection And Medical Observation (ADAMO) Lab

Dr. Stephen Adamo is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychology and Radiology & Imaging Sciences at the University of Arizona. His research examines how people search for and interpret both simplified visual displays and medical images, with particular focus on mammography (2D) and digital breast tomosynthesis (3D). His lab investigates both novice and expert performance and uses behavioral measures, eye-tracking, and EEG to bridge basic and applied science. He tests visual search theory with student and radiologist observers and explores how findings from controlled visual displays translate to medical imaging, particularly in the context of new technologies such as 3D imaging and artificial intelligence.
