Sabrina Plattner, M.Ed.
Biography:
Sabrina Plattner is the Senior Outreach Coordinator for Prevention Education at the University of Arizona Cancer Center’s Skin Cancer Institute. She has brought over 20 years of experience in childhood obesity and disease prevention through school-based and community outreach initiatives and programs.
Previously, Sabrina served for eight years as a Senior Health Educator and Certified Health Coach at the UA Zuckerman College of Public Health. She has led and developed numerous prevention initiatives across Southern Arizona, including Healthy Children Arizona, a cancer and diabetes prevention program that reached more than 25,000 young children statewide.
Sabrina also helped establish service-learning courses that engage public health students in delivering evidence-based wellness programs, impacting over 1,000 K–8 students annually. She taught Community Health and Wellness, partnering with underserved afterschool programs in South Tucson and Pima County.
She has served as Co-Chair of Activate Tucson for six years, advancing policy and environmental changes to improve community health. Sabrina holds an M.Ed. in Health Promotion from Lesley University and a B.S. from Northern Arizona University. She is also the first author of Healthy Children Arizona: Early Intervention for Prevention (2014).
When Sabrina is not advocating for community public health prevention practices, she enjoys spending time with her family and getting out to hike and walk in beautiful Tucson mountains while being sun safe.
