Carrie Luu, MD, FACS

Biography

Dr. Luu is board certified in general surgery and complex general surgical oncology. Prior to joining the College of Medicine - Tucson, Dr. Luu held the title of assistant professor of surgery at Saint Louis University Hospital in Missouri.

“I strive to provide knowledgeable and compassionate patient care with shared decision-making,” Dr. Luu said.

Dr. Luu earned her Medical Degree from New York Medical College. She completed her residency in general surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center where she received the Resident Research Paper Award from the Southern California Chapter of the American College of Surgeons Annual Meeting. Following her residency, she completed her fellowship training in complex general surgical oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center in Florida.

Cancer Focus

Dr. Luu’s research interests include hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), gastrointestinal cancers, and frailty and geriatric oncology. She has published in PLoS One, the Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology and JAMA Oncology. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology, Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, Association of Women Surgeons, and Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association.
