Cancer Focus
My Symptoms, Health, Innovation, Equity (SHINE) research team investigates symptom management interventions to decrease psychological distress and improve quality of life for cancer survivors and their informal caregivers (family members or friends). Over the last decade, I have focused on testing telephone delivered interventions with English-speaking and Spanish-speaking cancer survivors and their caregivers. My current symptom management and supportive care research is testing an automated telephone symptom management intervention with referral for self-management strategies in the Symptom Management and Survivorship Handbook, or if needed, referral back to the health care provider.
