Gut Innovative Working Group

Gut Group Goals:

  • To assemble basic and clinical scientists focused on cancers in GI/Liver to exchange ideas and reagents, provide feedback and form collaborations that will result in joint publications and grants
  • To expose trainees to research in GI/Liver Cancer Biology
  • To develop a biorepository to analyze GI/Liver disorders

Role of the microbiome in gut inflammation; short chain fatty acids and metabolism, Inflammation in the tumor microenvironment; GI cancers which include cholangiocarcinoma, NAFLD and hepatocelllular CA, H. pylori and gastric cancer; biomarkers of early onset colon cancers; MDSCs and immunotherapy resisistance in PDAC, gut stem cell biology; developing optical tools for diagnosis and treatment and diagnosis in GI cancers.
