U of A Cancer Center, Banner Health clinicians and scientists recognized at volleyball "Dig Pink" night
The University of Arizona Volleyball team held a Dig Pink Night event dedicated to breast cancer awareness, as they defeated the University of Utah Utes, 3 sets to 2, Oct. 2, at the McKale Center.
During the game, the announcers recognized University of Arizona Comprehensive Cancer Center members alongside Banner Health clinicians. Honoring their commitment to breast cancer research, Jad Abdelsattar, MD, Sima Ehsani, MD, Janet Funk, PhD, and Marissa Poole, FNP, were invited onto the court, and received a standing ovation. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in both Arizona and the rest of the United States. Throughout the game, the jumbotron displayed facts and messaging developed by the U of A Cancer Center Breast Cancer Clinical Research Team, encouraging women to get screened for breast cancer.
Players and fans wore pink to show their support, additionally, fans were encouraged to cheer on the wildcats using pink towels provided by the Ginny L. Clements Breast Cancer Research Institute at the U of A Cancer Center. To learn more about the Ginny L.
