Elizabeth Connick, MD

Chief, Division of Infectious Diseases

Dr. Connick is Chief of Infectious Diseases and Professor of Medicine and Immunobiology at University of Arizona. She graduated from Harvard Medical School, performed internal medicine residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, and completed an infectious disease fellowship at University of Colorado where she subsequently was a faculty member for 22 years. She has dedicated her career to understanding HIV immunopathogenesis and developing strategies to improve the health of people living with HIV through clinical trials and laboratory based research. She recently completed service as chair of the NIH’s AIDS Immunology and Pathogenesis study section, and as a member of the Office of AIDS Research Advisory Council. 

Cancer Focus

Dr. Connick’s laboratory is currently investigating mechanisms that promote HIV replication and persistence in germinal centers. These mechanisms are likely important in development of some malignancies.
