Charles C. Hsu, MD, PhD

Medical Director, University of Arizona Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office

Dr. Hsu received his Bachelor’s Degree with high honors from Princeton University followed by a Fulbright Fellowship pursuing hepatitis research. Dr. Hsu earned his medical degree and doctorate in epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Schools of Medicine and Public Health in Baltimore, MD and also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in cancer epidemiology with the World Health Organization in Lyon, France. He completed his internship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York followed by residency at the University of California-San Francisco, where he also served as Chief Resident.

Cancer Focus

His clinical and research focus is primarily lung and other thoracic malignancies as well as cutaneous malignancies including Merkel cell carcinoma and melanoma. Other clinical and research interests include cancer epidemiology and clinical trials, oligometastatic disease, palliative care, digital engagement, serologic and radiographic biomarkers, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), HDR brachytherapy treatment, reirradiation, and health services research.
