Biography

Ali Bilgin received the B.S. degree in electronics and telecommunications engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey, the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from San Diego State University, San Diego, CA, USA, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, USA. He is currently an Associate Professor with the Departments of Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Medical Imaging at the University of Arizona. He has authored over 200 research papers in international journals and conferences. He holds twelve granted and several pending patents. His current research interests include signal and image processing, image and video coding, data compression, and magnetic resonance imaging.

Cancer Focus

Dr. Bilgin's research focuses on novel magnetic resonance imaging and image processing techniques for early detection of cancer and monitoring of cancer therapies as well as developing techniques for improving our infrastructure to store, analyze, and visualize large amounts of biomedical imaging data.
