Alejandro Recio Boiles, MD, FACP

Since early in his professional and personal career, Dr. Recio has been eager and committed to contributing to medical science. He graduated in 2010, graduating at the top of his class with High Honors from the School of Medicine at UASLP, Mexico. From 2009 to 2013, he held a Postdoctoral Molecular Translational Research Fellowship focused on Cancer Basic Science at UT MDACC in Houston, TX, USA. Dr. Recio completed his Internal Medicine specialty and concentrated on the Early Cancer Screening Health Disparities Quality Improvement project, winning awards at local, regional, and final ACP meetings in AECC, New York City, NY, USA. He then joined the University of Arizona to complete his Hematology and Oncology Fellowship, transitioning in 2019 to the Clinical Professor Track for Genitourinary and Early Phase Drug Development in the Hematology and Medical Oncology Division, Department of Medicine, at the University of Arizona Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is a Clinical and Translational Researcher at UACC, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a member of several national working groups, including ASCO, AACR, SWOG, and ASCL. Additionally, he leads local initiatives at TACOS, ACP, and TMSC. Dr. Recio is also a recipient of the Robert A. Winn Excellence in Clinical Trials Award Program (Winn Awards). As a Hispanic physician-scientist, it has been my personal goal to reach out to underrepresented and underserved populations and improve their cancer outcomes. 

Cancer Focus

Dr. Recio's primary academic pursuit has been performing translational and clinical research in Genitourinary Cancer Early and Late Phase Drug Development Clinical Trials; Treatment of High-Risk Patients; Cancer Health Disparities and Community Outreach and Engagement; Screening, Access, and Participation in Clinical Trials.
