·    Overview of the agenda and workshop objectives.

·    Introduction of facilitators and participant ice-breaker.

9:15 – 9:45 AM | Session 1: Planning Your Grant Application

·    The importance of pre-planning: identifying team members and setting a clear timeline.

9:45 – 10:45 AM | Session 2: Crafting Specific Aims

·    Exploring key components: problem statement, hypothesis, objectives.

·    Tips for writing impactful specific aims.

10:45 – 11:00 AM | Break

11:00 – 12:30 PM | Small Group Activity: Specific Aims Review

·    Participants review specific aims pages in small groups.

·    Facilitators provide targeted feedback and guidance.

12:30 – 1:00 PM | Lunch Break (Provided)

1:00 – 2:00 PM | Session 3: Writing the Significance Section

·    Understanding the importance of the proposed research.

·    Highlighting innovation and novelty in proposals.

·    Techniques for conveying significance and innovation to reviewers.

2:00 – 3:00 PM | Session 4: Grant Writing Essentials

·    Effective biosketch crafting.

·    Incorporating sex as a biological variable.

·    Identifying common pitfalls and how to avoid them.

·    Locating funding opportunities and aligning with organizational goals.

·    Understanding detailed grant application requirements and guidelines.

3:00 – 3:10 PM | Session 5: Recap

·    Discussion on key takeaways and learnings from the workshop.

3:10 – 3:30 PM | Closing Remarks

All participants will be required to submit a copy 
of a current or past grant by May 22 to Katherine Mendoza
