Emmanuel Katsanis, MD
I am a Professor of Pediatrics, Medicine, Immunobiology, Pathology and a member of the University of Arizona Cancer Center, Steele Children’s Research Center and the Bio5 Institute. I combine my expertise in the laboratory and the clinical arenas as the Director of the Hematopoietic Cellular Therapy and Transplant Program (adult and pediatric) and Division Chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. I have 30+ years of research experience in the field of tumor and transplant immunology.
Cancer Focus
More recently my work has focused on immunomodulation with bendamustine following haploidentical-BMT. Additionally, my laboratory is studying pre-transplant modulation of host cells by selective agents and their effects on immune reconstitution, graft versus host disease and graft versus tumor effects. I designed and initiated an ongoing phase I/Ib clinical trial in haploidentical bone marrow transplantation based from our published preclinical work.
