The Ginny L. Clements Breast Cancer Research Institute has been reaccredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a quality program administered by the American College of Surgeons. This recognition makes it the only accredited breast cancer center in Tucson and one of just three in Arizona.

NAPBC accreditation is awarded to breast centers that demonstrate excellence in leadership, clinical services, research, community outreach and patient care. During the evaluation, the cancer center received high praise for:

  • Its exceptional commitment to clinical trial recruitment.
  • Strong administrative and clinical leadership.
  • Outstanding institutional support.
  • Extensive knowledge of NAPBC standards.

UACC has been accredited by the NAPBC since 2018. NAPBC accreditation is a mark of distinction, signifying a center's dedication to meeting rigorous standards. To maintain accreditation, breast centers undergo a comprehensive review every three years.

Patients receiving care at NAPBC-accredited centers benefit from:

  • Comprehensive, state-of-the-art breast cancer services.
  • A multidisciplinary team approach to ensure the best treatment options.
  • Access to clinical trials and emerging treatment innovations.
  • Patient-centered support, including psychosocial services, rehabilitation, and survivorship care.

The Ginny L. Clements Breast Cancer Research Institute has a dedicated team of specialists who collaborate to provide personalized, high-quality care throughout a patient’s cancer journey, from diagnosis to survivorship.

As the demand for high-quality breast cancer care grows, the institute has seen a steady increase in the number of breast cancer patients it cares for, including new diagnoses. It serves patients not only in Tucson but from across Southern Arizona, reaching as far as Yuma, Sierra Vista and towns along the Arizona-Mexico border.

“At the UACC breast center we are committed to delivering high quality, patient-centered, individualized breast cancer care to southern Arizona,” said surgical oncologist Nova M. Foster, MD, FACS. “Our team of specialists use a multidisciplinary approach for treatment planning, and we offer the most up-to-date treatments and clinical trials, all of which help assure the best possible outcomes for our patients.”

Beyond clinical care, UACC actively engages with the community. Through partnerships with local organizations and national groups, UACC organizes outreach events and participates in community lecture series to enhance awareness and provide cancer-related education and services.
