Community Outreach Manager, Namoonga Mantina, organizes and plans public events for the cancer center throughout southern Arizona.

The Cancer Center's community outreach manager, Namoonga Mantina, MSPH, MBA, has been appointed associate editor of the journal, Preventing Chronic Disease, a peer-reviewed, public health journal sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The journal is authored by disease prevention experts throughout the world. According to editor-in-chief, Leonard Jack Jr., PhD, MSc, "Preventing Chronic Disease is the only journal that offers an annual student research paper-publication opportunity as part of its commitment to build the next generation of public health researchers, evaluators, health policy makers, and practitioners." As part of its mission to educate future researchers, the publications helps expose students to cutting-edge research and teach them how to carefully critique strengths and weaknesses of scientific research, evaluation and practice.
