Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day, Oct. 21

A free evening of presentations about all aspects of breast reconstruction following mastectomy will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21 at the University of Arizona Cancer Center / North Campus, 3838 N. Campbell Ave.

The “BRA Day” event is part of the fourth annual Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day, a nationwide collaboration between the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Plastic Surgery Foundation, breast centers, nurse navigators, corporate partners and breast cancer support groups.

In Tucson, the University of Arizona Cancer Center and Banner – University Medical Center are observing Breast Reconstruction Day by inviting the public to a series of  free lectures and slide shows by medical professionals, patients and others, including:

  • Carolyn Donohue, PA, physician assistant to plastic surgeon Ethan Larson, MD
  • Elaine Pichet, a nipple tattoo artist
  • Brenda Casey, MSW, on sexuality and intimacy after reconstruction 
  • Patti Anderson and Terri Coutee on their patient experience with reconstructive surgery.

About ASPS and The PSF

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) is the largest plastic surgery specialty organization in the world. Founded in 1931, the society is composed of board-certified plastic surgeons that perform cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
