Lauren Maynard, MS, CGC
Lauren Maynard, MS, CGC is a certified genetic counselor through the American Board of Genetic Counseling. She works at Banner Heath for the University of Arizona Cancer Center as a part of the multi-disciplinary High Risk Clinic. In her clinical role, she provides genetic counseling and genetic testing for individuals with a personal and/or family history of cancer to patients with diagnoses of pancreatic, hepatobiliary, gastrointestinal, and a broad range of cancer types which are potentially hereditary, as well as those who have a family history of these cancers. Her work plays a major role in identifying patients who qualify for high risk pancreatic cancer screening and other forms of high risk screening.
In her clinic, she evaluates the likelihood that cancer for an individual or family is hereditary and provides information about cancer genetics, genetic testing, and personalized cancer screening options. She assists patients with decisions regarding genetic testing, with test interpretation, and serves as a resource for families to understand how their genetics or family history contributes to cancer risks as well as risk reduction and screening options. Throughout her career at Banner Health, she has contributed to quality improvement efforts, maintaining high quality clinical genetic testing services, student education and research, and community education. She is passionate about broadening the availability of clinical genetic counseling services in the Tucson area and training new genetic counselors at the University of Arizona Genetic Counseling Program.
