Donato F Romagnolo, PhD, MSc
Donato Romagnolo, PhD, MSc. is Professor of Nutritional and Cancer Biology in the Department of Nutritional Sciences and a member of the Arizona Cancer Center (AZCC), Center for Toxicology, BIO5 Research Institute, and School of Comparative and Biomedical Sciences. He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Padua, Italy, and Masters of Science and Doctoral degrees from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA. He trained as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health, National Institutes of Health. At the University of Arizona, he teaches undergraduate Nutritional Biology and graduate Bioenergetic courses. He is Director of the University of Arizona Study Abroad Program on Mediterranean Diet and Health.
Cancer Focus
Dr. Romagnolo’s research focuses on; (i) mechanisms of epigenetic regulation of breast cancer genes by dietary and environmental xenobiotics; 2) role of dietary bioactive food components in the etiology and prevention of breast cancer and inflammation; 3) impact of dietary components on epigenetic regulation of genes involved in bile acids homeostasis and influences on inflammatory bowel diseases and intestinal tumorigenesis.
