Melanoma

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in both men and women in the United States. There are several kinds of skin cancer including squamous cell, basal cell, Merkel cell and melanoma. Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer. Unlike basal and squamous cell carcinomas, melanoma of the skin has tendency to spread outside the skin to other organs. Melanoma incidence has been rising over the past few decades.

The University of Arizona Cancer Center is the only Comprehensive Cancer Center (designated by the National Cancer Institute) in the state of Arizona and provides cutting edge research and treatment options for melanoma not yet available as standard of care.

Our Melanoma Team is a multidisciplinary team that include medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists, dermatologists, clinical and regulatory research coordinators, and clinical and research nurses. Our oncologists have extensive experience with the growing array of precision cancer treatments for melanoma.

We have a portfolio of clinical trials utilizing novel immune and targeted therapies for different stages of melanoma that provide options for variable patient conditions including refractory cases. Our trial list changes continuously and gets updated at our trial website.

We will be happy to meet any patient in person and discuss their unique circumstance.
