U of A Cancer Center and the U of A Foundation appoint senior director of development
The University of Arizona Comprehensive Cancer Center and the U of A Foundation have appointed Jacqueline Suiter as senior director of development for the center, where she will lead major and principal gift fundraising in support of research, clinical care and academic medicine. Suiter begins her new role on Jan. 12.
Suiter brings more than 25 years of experience in fundraising, sales and marketing across the nonprofit and private sectors with a strong focus on healthcare related initiatives. In her new role, she will serve as the lead development professional for the cancer center, managing a portfolio of high-level donors and prospects and collaborating with faculty, clinicians and university partners to advance a culture of philanthropy.
“Jackie’s track record of building enduring philanthropic relationships and securing transformational support makes her an outstanding addition to our team,” said Dr. Dan Theodorescu, the Nancy C. and Craig M. Berge endowed chair for the director of the Cancer Center. “Her strategic approach and commitment to mission-driven engagement will be instrumental as we continue to expand the impact of the University of Arizona Comprehensive Cancer Center.”
Most recently, Suiter served as vice president of development for the Alzheimer’s Association in Los Angeles, where she managed major gifts, planned giving, grants, events, and launched new ambassador and board engagement initiatives.
“Jackie brings great experience to the U of A Cancer Center. We are excited about her enthusiasm, passion, and commitment to working with cancer patients and their families,” said Bryan Rowland, U of A Foundation senior vice president for health sciences development. “She’s a great addition to the U of A community.”
Previously, Suiter held leadership roles at Cancer Support Community South Bay as interim executive director and development director. There, she led fundraising efforts that generated more than $5 million, managed a major gift portfolio, expanded corporate sponsorships and community partnerships, and guided integrated marketing and communications strategies. Her tenure included maintaining fundraising performance during an executive transition and growing participant engagement across programs.
Earlier in her career, Suiter spent 15 years with Arrow Electronics as a senior sales and marketing representative, where she managed the company’s largest global account, growing annual sales from $25 million to $150 million and earned multiple President’s Club awards.
